The seven races that have joined forces to create the Valkyon Federation are committed to teamwork and fellowship among peoples who have often, in the history of the world, been in conflict. Generations of war have scarred the world in more ways than one, and there’s a new generation that believes it’s time to heal old wounds and look forward in unity.

The Valkyon Federation first aims to turn back the argons and defeat their plan of destruction, then to continue the alliance into a new era of prosperity and peace for all races.

Only a few generations ago, the world of TERA was torn by near-constant warring among the gods—the jealous, combative children of the titans Arun and Shara. The mortal races whom the gods had created suffered endlessly from a world in continual conflict and divine interference. In recent years, with most of the gods dead or in exile, mortals have risen to new prominence.

When the argons attacked from their underground stronghold in northern Shara, near Kaiator, humans and castanics sent immediate military assistance to the beleaguered amani. Legate Catharnach entrenched his human troops across the length of the front and held back the argon tide. He had bought time, but without united leadership the defense would fail. The human-castanic alliance appointed Catharnach General of the Army, and a call for unification in the face of certain destruction went out to all the nations of Arun and Shara. Catharnach himself presided over the signing of the Articles of Federation in Velika not long after.

The Tower Base

When the Island of Dawn emerged from the ocean that separates the continents of Shara and Arun, it triggered a new time of excitement and exploration for the federation’s most respected scientists and arcanists, and not a little political turmoil as vital personnel were reassigned at a moment’s notice.

Many of these expedition members were killed in an attack by island wildlife and demons of unknown origin. The remnants of the expedition were able to withdraw to Tower Base, where a system of magical wards serves as a barrier to dangerous creatures. A second expedition of researchers and support troops has been mounted to reinforce them, and new recruits will be needed to fill many combat and support positions in the near future.

The races of TERA

Today the humans, high elves, amani, poporis, elin, and baraka move forward in unity to remake their war-torn world. Old grievances and past injustice, if not exactly forgotten, have at least been put aside in service of a greater good—saving the world we know from the horrors of argon subjugation and destruction.

At present, the federation races focus on leaving the past behind and moving forward from their ancestor's history of constant war into a time of harmony and reconciliation.
